Create and Link a Memo to an Excerpt 

There are several ways to link a memo to an excerpt. You can create and link memos to excerpts simultaneously, which allows you to document your thoughts while you are analyzing your data. You can also create and link a memo to an excerpt via the Excerpts Workspace. 

Create and link a memo to an excerpt while analyzing data: 

1. Create or select the excerpt you want to create and link a memo to 

2. After selecting the excerpt, the red "Selection info" box will appear in the upper right. 

3. Select the memo/note icon in the upper right corner of the Selection Info box. Doing so will open the Create Memo window

4. Select which memo group, if any, you would like the memo to be categorized under. Include a title and content for your memo. 

5. Select "Save"

Create and link a Memo via the Excerpts Workspace:

1. Navigate to the Excerpts Workspace 

2. Next to the excerpt you would like to create and attach a memo to, select the "0" in the associated memos column. Doing so will open the Create Memo window. 

3. Select which memo group, if any, you would like the memo to be categorized under. Include a title and content for your memo. 

4. Select "Save"
